For this he leads by example, meaning that he is not
afraid to take risks beyond his comfort zone and risks that are involved in serving a purpose that may be greater
than himself while he is not ashamed to admit to his own limitations and
therefore to seek cooperation. In fact, a leader collaborates to build a
network that is mutually beneficial. Although any type of collaboration
requires some form of compromise a leader’s
independent thinking should not be subject to it. He has the power to
decline ideas, offers and compromises that are not contributing to the overall
vision or organizational goal.
When prioritizing his actions, he is able to more or less
avoid giving anyone the feeling to be of lesser importance. Hence his decisions
are characterized to a great extent by emotional intelligence, given that he himself
is emotionally stable, and able to draw from his understanding of human and
institutional behavior. He takes time out to reflect and to cogitate on a
regular basis not only to seek inspiration for improvements of any kind
regarding his work, but also to remain his work-life-balance and health
respectively.
Caring about each and every one of them, a leader integrates
individuals in his team that share the vision which is communicated clearly
through inspirational language respective actions and through providing the
means necessary to motivate, to qualify and to enable his team to perform at
its best. The latter may be accomplished more likely if he accomodates feedback
regarding his own performance, and making a reasonable amount of time available
to sharing and to making sense of joy and sorrow in person.
Overall, a leader is authentic, persistent and
consistent in his leadership practices taking responsibility for his own and the
actions of his team showing appreciation for success and in times of crises seeking
the opportunities to foster stability while being fully integer – always. But
everbody who is willing to lead will
eventually encounter a variety of other people with different interests, behaviors
and phenomena that lie beyond his own reason and control. Thus, it is
inevitable that he will face situations of ethical dilemma every now and then.
A leader tackles these immidiately taking into account the interests of
the ones depending on him more than his own interests.
